Tanta University held a celebration today on the occasion of gaining the first rank in literacy and adult education at the level of Egyptian universities according to the report issued by the General Authority for Literacy and Adult Education in the first half of the fiscal year 2023-2024. The celebration was attended by Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, University President; Prof. Mahmoud Selim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Mr. Mohamed Abo Al-Nabayel, Manager of Gharbia Branch of the General Authority for Literacy and Adult Education; many deans and vice deans of faculties, academic staff at the university, coordinators of the literacy project at faculties, and employees of Gharbia Branch of the General Authority for Literacy and Adult Education.
In the speech he delivered, Prof. Mahmoud Zaki affirmed that Egypt could advance in many developmental and service fields based on its vision 2030 that focuses on human resources as the pivot of development. That is obvious in the national sustainable development strategy and many national initiatives and projects.
Moreover, Prof. Mahmoud Selim declared that the strategic plan of the university and the executive programs of Community Service and Environmental Development Sector aim to encourage students to take part in educating illiterate citizens in Gharbia governorate. He pointed out that the university could educate 39534 persons in 6 months. In addition, he commended the cooperation between the university and the General Authority for Literacy and Adult Education that enhances students’ national awareness.
Furthermore, during the celebration, University President honored Prof. Yasser Al-Garf, Dean of Faculty of Business for gaining the first rank; Prof. Mamdouh Al-Masry, Dean of Faculty of Arts, that gained the second rank; Prof. Ahmed Helal, Dean of Faculty of Education, that gained the third rank; Prof. Dina Abdel Hady, Vice Dean of Faculty of Business for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Yasser Abdel Rahim, Vice Dean of Faculty of Education for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Raafat Abdel Razek, Coordinator of Faculty of Arts; Prof. Abdel Fattah Saad, Coordinator of Faculty of Education; and Prof. Walid Samir, former Coordinator of Literacy at Tanta University.
