Prof. Ibrahim Abdel Wahab Salem, Acting President of Tanta University, received today MG Tal'at Mansour, Secretary General of Gharbia Governorate, and Mr. Gaber Abdel Wakil, General Manager of Gharbia Branch of Adult Education Authority, so as to activate the protocol between the Supreme Council of Universities (SCU) and Adult Education Authority in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Prof. Ibrahim Salem indicated that that protocol came in the context of affirming the significant role played by universities in national issues, above all the issue of literacy. He asserted that that project was considered the greatest participation by the University in service of its community and developing and improving the environment. He voiced his hope that the agreement between Tanta University and Adult Education Authority in Gharbia governorate would result in declaring the governorate free from illiteracy because the real dangers it had on growth and development of Egyptian society.

Mr. Gaber Abdel Wakil commended the efforts exerted by Tanta University in community service in Gharbia governorate to which it belonged in the light of its social responsibility. He added that the agreement aimed to eliminate the phenomenon of illiteracy, to utilize university youths' energy, and to make use of it in advancement of society.
