Tanta University’s Medical Convoy Offers Health Care Services to 1645 Patients and Gives them Medicaments for Free

     In context of celebrating its golden jubilee, Tanta University organized a comprehensive medical convoy in Shefa Karoun village located in Basioun district in Gharbia governorate to examine patients and give medicaments for free. It was organized under patronage of Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, Tanta University President; and Prof. Mahmoud Salim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.

     For his part, Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, affirmed that organizing such medical convoys comes in the framework of the pioneering role played by the university in community service in Gharbia governorate and to enhance the presidential initiative, “Decent Life” to provide healthcare to the needy patients in cooperation with the Supreme Medical Aid Committee of the Cabinet.

     Moreover, University President indicated that professors from faculties of Medicine in different specialties participated in the convoy. All the required capabilities have been offered to provide distinguished healthcare to the patients.

     Furthermore, Prof. Mahmoud Salim affirmed that the university convoys are not confined to the medical services only, but they also include awareness, agricultural, technical, sports, social and veterinary convoys, in addition to the economic empowerment and literacy convoys.

     In addition, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shebiny, Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, pointed out that during the convoy, 1645 patients were examined in specialties of neurosurgery, pediatrics, orthopedic surgery, urology, dermatology, internal medicine, ENT, vascular surgery, chest, ophthalmology, general surgery and dentistry. He added that 84 cases were transferred to University Hospitals to continue their treatment.

     It is worth noting that faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Agriculture participated in the convoy. In addition, a literacy exam was held for 150 citizens in the framework of the national plan to eradicate illiteracy. The convoy was held with participation of Prof. Sahar Al-Haggar, Vice Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy for Community Service and Environmental Development and Acting Faculty Dean; Prof. Adel Helal, Vice Dean of Faculty of Agriculture for Community Service and Environmental Development; Mr. Mohammed Ghazy, General Manager of Environmental Projects; and Mr. Maher Saad, General Manager of Community Service, in addition to a number of academic staff and assistant staff.
