Enhancing “Decent Life” Initiative, 1393 Patients are Examined at Tanta University’s Medical Convoy in Kafr El-Zayyat District

Tanta University organized a comprehensive medical convoy in Al-Dalgamoon village located in Kafr El-Zayyat District in Gharbia governorate under patronage of Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, University President, and Prof. Mahmoud Salim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.

   Prof. Mahmoud Zaki declared that the convoys are organized in the context of the pioneering role played by the university in community services, enhancing the presidential initiative Decent Life, and serving citizens in the neediest villages. He added that the convoys include an elite group of doctors in specialties of neurosurgery, pediatrics, orthopedic surgery, dermatology, internal medicine, urology, ENT, general surgery, chest, neuropsychiatry, ophthalmology, and cardiovascular medicine. He pointed out that patients who needed surgeries were transferred to Tanta University Hospitals.

    Furthermore, Prof. Mahmoud Salim stated that Community Service and Environmental Development Sector is keen on developing the services offered by the medical convoys to citizens in the villages and districts in the light of the social responsibility of the university. He added that an ultrasound system (sonar) and an ECG machine were available at the convoy.

    Moreover, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shebiny, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, added that 1393 patients in the village were examined and were given medicaments for free. He pointed out that 94 patients were transferred to University Hospitals to get the needed treatment.

    The convoy was organized with participation of faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy, and Nursing in addition to holding immediate literacy exam for 85 citizens in the framework of the national strategy for eliminating illiteracy. It is worth noting that the convoy was attended by Prof. Sahar Al-Haggar, Vice Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy for Community Service and Environmental Development; Mr. Mohammed Ghazy, General Manager of Environmental Projects; and Mr. Maher Saad, General Manager of Community Service.
