Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, Tanta University President, announced that the university has made a tremendous leap in the US News ranking for 2024-2025, advancing 239 places compared to the previous year to rank 596th among the world's universities in this year's edition of the ranking. The university also advanced six places continentally to rank 21st among African universities and maintained its local ranking at 10th among Egyptian universities. Additionally, Tanta University achieved a remarkable feat in the US News academic subject rankings, appearing in 11 academic subjects this year compared to only four subjects last year, an increase of seven subjects in which the university was ranked for the first time.

Prof. Mahmoud Zaki explained that the university's leap today reflects the strategic plan it adhered to for developing and improving its position in global rankings and enhancing its research and educational outputs. This supports the principle of international benchmarking in the strategic plan for higher education and scientific research. He added that the university made progress in the academic subjects in which it was ranked for the first time, ranking 393rd in biological and biochemical sciences, 490th in electrical and electronic engineering, 61st in energy and fuels, 376th in environmental and ecological sciences, 529th in materials science, 898th in physics, and 160th in plant and animal science.

The university also advanced in previously ranked academic subjects, increasing its ranking by 76 places in chemistry to 834th, 58 places in medical and clinical sciences to 654th, 95 places in engineering to 246th, and 91 places in pharmacy and toxicology to 258th.
