"Safe Usage of Agriculture Pesticides" A Symposium at the Medical Convoy of Tanta University to Kafr Al-Mahrok Village

Under patronage of Prof. Abdel Hakim Abdel Khalek Khalil, University President, Tanta University organized a medical and guidance convoy to Kafr Al-Mahrok village affiliated to Kafr El-Zayyat province in the framework of medical convoys program supported by Community Service and Environmental Development Sector headed by Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Daboun, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, in order to deliver medical service to remote areas deprived of it in villages and provinces of the governorate. 

The convoy witnessed participation of professors from Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Nursing at Tanta University where medical examination was conducted on about 1452 cases in all medical specializations, medications were disbursed for free with the cost of 20 thousand pounds and 86 cases were referred to University Hospitals in Tanta to be operated on and to make x-ray imaging. 

On the other hand, the convoy held literacy exam for 112 persons from the village. 100 boxes of food supplies were distributed to 100 poor families and financial aids of 100 pounds were given to 104 persons of the poor in the village.  

Activities of the convoy included awareness lectures in different specializations such as personal hygiene, behavior habits, infection control and diseases, explanation of kinds of hepatic viruses, methods of infections and prevention, in addition to lectures on agricultural awareness about rational use of water, harms of excessive use of pesticides, spraying machines and precautions of spraying pesticides. 

It is worth mentioning that the convoy is part of University program to achieve communication with local community represented in directorates of health and social affairs, Environmental Affairs Authority in Middle Delta, Education Directorate, Social Solidarity Directorate and the General Authority for Adult Education.
