Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, participated in the regular meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities held today, Saturday, at Menoufia University. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the presence of Prof. Mostafa Refaat, Secretary-General of the Council, and esteemed council members. According to a statement by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Council approved the academic calendar for the upcoming academic year 2025/2026, as follows: September 20: Start of the new academic year at universities and institutes January 1: Start of first semester final exams January 24: Start of mid-year vacation February 7: Start of second semester May 21: End of the second semester The Council also approved the admission coordination rules for public universities and higher institutes. Minister Ashour directed that the results of the second semester exams for the current academic year 2024/2025 be announced promptly. He also emphasized the need to complete all required maintenance work for university laboratories and facilities, and to review all aspects of occupational health and safety before the start of the new academic year. Minister Ashour further stressed the importance of continuing to implement sports, artistic, cultural, and social activities across universities, especially during the summer break, to harness youth energy and strengthen their sense of belonging and loyalty. He also emphasized the need to transform scientific research outputs into products that contribute to supporting the national economy, as well as promoting a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. He highlighted the necessity of aligning scientific research with national development plans and societal needs.
