Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, took part today in the Delta Region Universities Summit on Sustainability and Development, held under the theme "From Challenge to Launch", hosted by Mansoura University and organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector. The event took place at the lecture hall of Prof. Magdy Abu Rayan at the Faculty of Engineering.
The summit witnessed the participation of several prominent academic leaders and experts, including:
• Prof. Reda Hegazy, former Minister of Education and President of the University of Pioneering
• Prof. Sherif Khater, President of Mansoura University
• Prof. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of Kafrelsheikh University
• Prof. Hamdan Rabie, President of Damietta University
• Prof. Moawad El-Khouly, President of New Mansoura University
• Prof. El-Saeed Abdel Hadi, President of Horus University
• Prof. Yehia El-Mashad, President of Delta University
• Prof. Abdel Fattah Sedka, President of Al-Salam University
• Prof. Oraby El-Sayed Keshk, President of Delta Technological University
• Prof. Montaser Doweidar, President of Samanoud Technological University
• Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President of Tanta University for Community Service and Environmental Development
along with several university vice presidents, deans, faculty members, researchers, industrial and community representatives, as well as media and press professionals.
In his opening address, Prof. Mohamed Hussein expressed gratitude to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his unwavering support of Egypt’s educational and research systems and his emphasis on aligning them with labor market needs. He praised the presidential initiative “Tahalof wa Tanmiya” ("Alliance and Development") as a transformative effort aiming to revolutionize higher education and scientific research in the Delta region through integrated knowledge and expertise dedicated to serving the community and supporting the national economy.
He emphasized that the Delta Universities Alliance plays a pivotal role in advancing education and research in alignment with Egypt’s Vision 2030. The alliance aspires to foster integration between institutional knowledge, practical expertise, and available resources, while also introducing interdisciplinary programs tailored to labor market demands in collaboration with industrial sectors.
During the summit, Prof. Hussein delivered a strategic presentation outlining the framework for the Delta Universities Alliance’s goals, grounded in Egypt's Vision 2030, the presidential initiative “Alliance and Development”, and the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The presentation highlighted the alliance’s strategic objectives, including:
• Integration of knowledge and expertise
• Development of human resources
• Promotion of innovation, entrepreneurship, and support for start-ups
• Provision of financial and technical support for development projects
• Advancement of scientific research to address regional and societal challenges
• Organization of international scientific conferences to showcase interdisciplinary research outcomes
• Strengthening of international relations
• Acceleration of digital transformation and governance
• Delivery of exceptional community services
Prof. Hussein concluded his presentation with a situation analysis based on the executive framework and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s strategic vision, identifying priority actions for the upcoming phase. He extended his appreciation to all university presidents, vice presidents, faculty deans, staff, and students participating in the activities of the Delta Universities Alliance.
At the end of the summit, Prof. Sherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, officially handed over the presidency of the Delta Universities Alliance to Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University. A ceremonial recognition followed, where member universities of the alliance were honored for their outstanding efforts and fruitful activities over the past year.
