Prof. Mohamed Hussein:
We are committed to building strategic international partnerships in line with the principles of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research.
As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance international academic and research relations, and in alignment with Tanta University’s strategic plan, Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of the University, along with Prof. Ahmed Nasr, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, conducted a fruitful working visit to the University of Cantabria in Spain. The visit aimed to explore avenues for mutual cooperation and broaden the scope of academic exchange and knowledge transfer between the two institutions.
The first day of Tanta University's delegation visit featured an intensive program designed to promote mutual collaboration. The activities commenced with an official reception at the International Relations Office, where the delegation was welcomed and the general objectives of the visit were discussed. This was followed by a campus tour during which the delegation was introduced to the university’s facilities and academic infrastructure. In a significant step, the delegation met with Professor Eugenio Bringas, the academic official for international relations at the University of Cantabria, to discuss mechanisms for enhancing academic exchange. Important meetings continued with Professor Alfredo Ortiz, Professor of Electrical Engineering, opening new horizons for future collaboration in student and academic exchange programs.
Prof. Mohamed Hussein stated that the discussions confirmed the continuation of cooperation between Tanta University and the University of Cantabria over the next three years, to maximize the benefits of the Erasmus+ project funded by the European Union, which supports student and academic exchange. He added that discussions included expanding the scope of disciplines benefiting from the project to include vital areas such as civil engineering, healthcare specialties, and the humanities, in addition to the current fields. The Tanta University delegation also presented the university's physical and human resources, along with its academic and research strengths, in order to explore the possibilities for expanding scientific cooperation and conducting joint research across various fields.
Prof. Hussein emphasized the significance of the visit, which reflects Tanta University’s commitment to strengthening its international presence and building strategic partnerships that contribute to the advancement of education and scientific research. This aligns with the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research, the state’s sustainable development agenda, and the promotion of innovation and academic excellence. He noted that the visit will pave the way for new avenues of collaboration in engineering, scientific research, and exchange programs, benefitting both students and faculty members.
It is noteworthy that Tanta University is a partner in the international HORIZON-MSCA Project with the University of Cantabria, through a joint research project titled:
"Development of Knowledge and Technology for Re-filling Application in Power Transformers Using Biodegradable or Recycled Fluids to Foster Circular Economy."
This project, with a total direct cost of €1,311,000, marks a significant step for Tanta University in reinforcing its leading role in international scientific research, particularly in the fields of sustainability and the development of eco-friendly solutions in the energy sector.
