Prof. Mohamed Hussein in his Opening Remarks:
We reaffirm our unwavering support for President El-Sisi and our absolute confidence in his wise decisions to safeguard national security amid rapidly evolving regional and international developments.
We extend heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to President El-Sisi, the patron of education and the driving force behind Egypt’s path to development.
Today, Tanta University hosted the activities of the initiative “A New Beginning for Quality Assurance in Education” organized by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE) in cooperation with Tanta University, under the patronage of Prime Minister Prof. Mostafa Madbouly. The event was attended by Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University; Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Alaa Ashmawy, President of NAQAAE; Prof. Hesham Abdel Nasser, Executive Director of the Initiative and Political Communication Advisor to the Authority’s President; Prof. Wissam Salah, Executive Director of the Central Office for Institutional Performance; Prof. Sabah Sharshour, Director of the Quality Assurance Center; Prof. Hussein Khater, Training Program Implementation Officer; alongside faculty members and students.
In his address, Prof. Mohamed Hussein welcomed participants to the University, expressing his pride in hosting this significant academic forum, which underscores the joint commitment to advancing the quality of educational institutions. He reaffirmed his full support for President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, describing him as the patron of education and the leader of Egypt’s development journey, who spares no effort in supporting the education sector at every level. Prof. Hussein highlighted that the President’s consistent emphasis on quality in both performance and educational outcomes lies at the heart of the remarkable progress witnessed across sectors today, reaffirming his belief that “building people is the foundation of building nations.” He also stressed the University’s steadfast confidence in President El-Sisi’s decisions to safeguard national security amid rapidly changing regional and global contexts.
Prof. Hussein extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Prof. Mostafa Madbouly for his sponsorship of this important initiative, which adds greater responsibility to ensure impactful outcomes. He also thanked Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, for his dedicated efforts and his continuous launch of ambitious national initiatives, as well as for formulating a comprehensive national strategy for higher education and scientific research that aims to graduate well-rounded individuals—equipped not only with academic knowledge but also with the skills, competencies, and cultural awareness required for active engagement in society and the labor market.
He emphasized that achieving quality in higher education is no longer a goal to aspire to but an absolute necessity. Quality, he explained, is not a slogan but a holistic framework that touches every aspect of the educational process—from curricula and infrastructure to faculty, administrators, and students themselves. Prof. Hussein reaffirmed that quality is the cornerstone of progress, noting that Tanta University has prioritized it across all academic and administrative dimensions through initiatives such as curriculum modernization, digital and physical infrastructure upgrades, professional development of faculty and staff, and support for applied research. He concluded by calling on all participants to actively engage in the day’s agenda, exchange expertise, and produce practical recommendations that strengthen the culture of quality in Egyptian institutions in pursuit of Egypt’s Vision 2030, and to prepare a new generation capable of carrying responsibility and shaping a brighter future for the nation.
For his part, Prof. Alaa Ashmawy thanked Prof. Mohamed Hussein and Tanta University for hosting the initiative, stressing that its central focus is the student as the true core of the educational process. He explained that the initiative, launched under the patronage of Prime Minister Prof. Mostafa Madbouly and in partnership with the League of Arab States, seeks to raise the standards of education through collaborative work with universities.
Prof. Ashmawy underlined that quality is not about completing paperwork but about aligning graduates with the needs of both local and international labor markets. He noted that in today’s world, graduates must hold qualifications from internationally accredited institutions in order to compete globally. He added that NAQAAE’s standards open wider opportunities for students to work abroad while also facilitating the enrollment of international students in Egyptian universities. He stressed that quality standards are in line with the principle of lifelong learning, reminding participants that education does not end at graduation. With technological advances and the rise of artificial intelligence, students must continuously acquire new knowledge and skills to remain competitive in the future workforce.
He concluded by expressing his hope that the workshop will achieve its intended goals in preparing a new generation ready to embrace the future.
