With Financial Support Amounting to EGP 27 Million: Tanta University Hospitals Sign a Cooperation Protocol with Banque Misr Foundation for Community Development

The protocol aligns with the principles of the National Strategy for Higher Education and the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030


Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, announced the signing of a cooperation protocol between Tanta University Hospitals and the Banque Misr Foundation for Community Development, aimed at supplying operating theaters and intensive care units with advanced medical equipment.


The protocol was signed on behalf of Tanta University Hospitals by Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Tanta University Hospitals, and on behalf of the Banque Misr Foundation by Mr. Essam El-Wakeel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Banque Misr Foundation for Community Development, in the presence of Prof. Ali El-Saidi, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Hassan El-Tattawy, Executive Director of Tanta University Hospitals, Prof. Ahmed Sweilem, Director of the Main Hospital and the New Surgery Hospital, and Prof. Mohamed Samir, Director of the International Educational Hospital.


Prof. Mohamed Hussein emphasized that signing the cooperation protocol with the Banque Misr Foundation for Community Development, with financial support amounting to EGP 27 million, reflects Tanta University’s commitment to strengthening effective partnerships with civil society organizations and donor institutions to enhance the healthcare services provided by university hospitals, particularly in vital sectors such as surgical operations and intensive care units.

He added that this vital cooperation comes within the framework of the university’s strategic plan and is fully aligned with the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research and Egypt Vision 2030, which prioritize improving quality of life and healthcare services as key national objectives.


For his part, Prof. Mohamed Hantira stated that effective community partnership among national institutions to support the healthcare sector represents an important strategic step toward enhancing the capabilities of Tanta University Hospitals in delivering advanced and safe medical services. This contributes to serving citizens and supporting the Egyptian state’s efforts to achieve the goals of sustainable development and Egypt Vision 2030 in the healthcare sector.


He explained that under the terms of the protocol, the Banque Misr Foundation for Community Development will provide EGP 27 million in support to equip operating theaters and intensive care units with modern and advanced medical devices, including EGP 12 million for the New Surgery Hospital and EGP 15 million for the International Educational Hospital. He extended his sincere appreciation to the Banque Misr Foundation, stressing that this contribution represents a true investment in the health of the Egyptian citizen and supports Tanta University Hospitals in continuing their mission to provide healthcare services in accordance with the highest quality standards to patients across the Delta region.


Meanwhile, Mr. Essam El-Wakeel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Banque Misr Foundation for Community Development, affirmed that the foundation’s contribution stems from its firm belief in the right of individuals to receive high-quality healthcare. He praised Tanta University Hospitals as a leading medical institution providing outstanding healthcare services in the Delta region, noting that this support reflects the bank’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare sector as part of the state’s broader efforts, given that healthcare is one of the main pillars of Egypt Vision 2030
