Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, received in his office this morning, Sunday, 15 February 2026, Iwai Fumio, Ambassador of Japan to the Arab Republic of Egypt, along with the high-level Japanese delegation accompanying him. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the joint Egyptian-Japanese Scientific Forum on “Smart Energy Systems for a Sustainable Future.” This visit comes within the framework of strengthening academic partnerships between Tanta University and Japanese scientific institutions, notably Nagoya University and the JSPS Alumni Association.
During the meeting, Prof. Mohamed Hussein emphasized that the university places international cooperation among its top priorities, noting that the forum serves as a vital platform for exchanging expertise in future technologies such as green hydrogen and artificial intelligence in smart grids. He further explained that through these partnerships, the university seeks to realize the model of an “entrepreneurial university” and to support innovation and scientific research that serve the national objectives of sustainable development.
For his part, Ambassador Iwai Fumio expressed his pleasure at visiting Tanta University, underscoring the deep scientific and cultural ties between the two countries. The ambassador praised the role of Tanta University in hosting major scientific events, noting that the launch of the forum and the inauguration of the Nagoya University Alumni Association – Egypt Branch (NUAL Egypt) in the heart of the Delta stand as strong evidence of the success of scientific soft power in consolidating Egyptian-Japanese relations.
