Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, held a private bilateral meeting in his office with Prof. Naoshi Sugiyama, President of Nagoya University, Japan, in preparation for concluding an expanded Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that outlines the features of academic and research cooperation between the two prestigious institutions during the coming years.
The meeting included detailed technical discussions on the proposed MoU, which aims to deepen scientific and cultural ties through the formation of joint research teams, student and faculty exchanges, and participation in conferences, seminars, and research activities. The MoU also encompasses conducting and publishing joint scientific research, mutual supervision and evaluation of master's and doctoral theses, and the exchange of academic secondments to leverage the scientific and training resources available at both institutions.
Prof. Mohamed Hussein explained that today's meeting with Professor Sugiyama was fruitful in formulating a shared vision for the anticipated memorandum of understanding. He added that Tanta University is not merely aiming to sign a protocol on paper, but rather seeks to establish a strategic partnership that provides real opportunities for researchers and students, forms joint research teams, offers training opportunities in Japan, and supports Tanta University researchers in producing applied research that serves national industry and localizes advanced technologies.
For his part, the President of Nagoya University explained that the meeting included a discussion of the core provisions of the memorandum of understanding. He noted the shared interest in activating academic exchange and tailored training programs, reflecting a sincere desire to build a sustainable knowledge bridge linking Japanese expertise with the creative energies at Tanta University. He emphasized the great importance of healthcare fields in light of the development witnessed by university hospitals in Tanta.
At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to task the technical offices and international relations departments at both universities with finalizing the legal drafting of the memorandum of understanding, in preparation for its signing at an official ceremony soon, which will mark the actual launch of joint scientific research and training projects.
