Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, announced that the Faculty of Medicine and its University Hospitals have received institutional accreditation from the Egyptian Health Council for four years, and program accreditation for the Basic Life Support (BLS) program for one year.
The University President emphasized that this accreditation from the Egyptian Health Council is a testament to the high quality of educational, training, and treatment services provided by Tanta University. He commended the efforts of all medical and administrative staff and their strict adherence to international quality standards in medical training and healthcare, aligning with the goals of the new Republic to develop the healthcare sector in Egypt. He explained that the accreditation of the Basic Life Support (BLS) program reflects the university's scientific leadership in providing advanced training programs that contribute to raising the efficiency of medical teams according to the latest international protocols. He affirmed that the university is continuing its ambitious plan to develop all its academic programs, contributing to graduating qualified professionals capable of competing both locally and internationally.
Professor Dr. Mohamed Hantira, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, added that the Faculty and its hospitals obtaining institutional and program accreditation from the Egyptian Health Council represents a qualitative leap in the medical training journey at the university. He emphasized that this achievement confirms the scientific and practical leadership of the medical sector at Tanta University. He affirmed that this accomplishment is the result of a clear strategic vision adopted by the university administration, headed by Prof. Mohamed Hussein, which prioritizes raising the clinical and professional training level of physicians and all members of the medical team to enhance patient health and safety and provide distinguished medical service. This step is the culmination of sincere efforts exerted by the Training Department at the University Hospitals to fulfill all international quality standards. He expressed his gratitude to Prof. Ragia Sharshar, Director of the Training Department at the University Hospitals, and to all the dedicated teams at the Faculty and the hospitals.
This accreditation comes after a visit by a delegation from the Supreme Committee for Continuing Professional Development of the Egyptian Health Council, headed by Prof. Fathi Khodair, Professor of Plastic Surgery and former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Kasr El Aini, and in the presence of Prof. Sherif Shehata, Professor of Pediatric Surgery and former Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Tanta University for Graduate Studies and Research, in February 2026, during which the delegation praised the training process and the distinguished level of Tanta University hospitals. The Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Program obtained accreditation for one year under the supervision of Prof. Sabry Amin, Head of the Anesthesia Department and Director of the Program, with a total of 8 accredited hours, to contribute as a cornerstone for all forms of clinical training, as well as the renewal of the license to practice the profession, which began to be implemented on young doctors starting with the graduates of 2019.
