Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, announced that the Tanta University futsal team won first place and the gold medal in the Egyptian Universities and Higher Institutes League, organized by the Egyptian Universities Sports Federation during Ramadan, from March 6 to March 14, 2026.
Prof. Hussein praised the team's significant achievement, emphasizing that this well-deserved victory clearly reflects the qualitative leap in sports activities at Tanta University and the fighting spirit and determination of its students to raise the university's profile. He affirmed that Tanta University spares no effort in supporting and nurturing athletically gifted students, believing that sports are an integral part of building a well-rounded university student, in line with the Egyptian state's vision of supporting youth and developing their capabilities.
For his part, Prof. El-Sayed El-Agouz, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, expressed his pride in the commendable performance of the university's futsal team. He emphasized that this achievement is the fruit of a strategic plan developed by the university to enhance its sports activities. He extended his gratitude to the university's General Administration for Student Welfare and to the technical and administrative staff overseeing the team, praising their efforts in preparing the players physically and technically. He affirmed the university's continued commitment to providing all forms of support for participation in all national events.
The names of the students participating in the tournament included Islam Mohamed Rabie from the Faculty of Computers and Information, Ali Mahmoud Ali from the Faculty of Computers and Information, Mohamed Osama Ali from the Faculty of Arts, Abdullah Metwally Asr from the Faculty of Sports Sciences, Ahmed Ismail Hany from the Faculty of Nursing, Ali Ibrahim Hassan from the Faculty of Nursing, Ahmed Osama Abdel Ghafour from Sports Sciences, Mohamed Ramadan Bassiouni from Sports Sciences, Moamen Salah Mohamed from the Faculty of Arts, Mahmoud Mohamed El-Saeed from the Faculty of Computers and Information, Karim Ahmed Moussa from the Faculty of Education, Abdullah Abdel Raouf El-Naggar from the Faculty of Commerce, Shafiq Yousry Rabie from the Faculty of Commerce, and Omar Ali El-Shabasy from the Faculty of Law, under the supervision of Prof. Magdy Wakouk, the general coordinator of student activities at the university, and Prof. Mohamed El-Qasir, the general director of student welfare at the university.
