He indicated that the hospitals are fully prepared to receive any emergency cases, with a sufficient strategic reserve of medications, medical supplies, blood, and blood products to ensure the continued provision of high-quality medical services under any circumstances.
Prof. Hussein emphasized the commitment of all medical staff, including faculty members, resident physicians, nurses, and technicians, to be present at their posts according to the published emergency schedules. He explained that the university has established a central operations room to receive reports and coordinate between the various departments and hospitals, stressing that protecting the health of citizens and hospital visitors is the top priority and will not be compromised in the coming hours.
In a related development, the university president announced the implementation of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's directives to suspend in-person classes on Wednesday and Thursday. He emphasized that this decision stemmed from a deep concern for the safety and health of students and university staff, and to protect them from potential risks resulting from the weather fluctuations. The university urged students to remain at home, avoid exposure to weather hazards, and adhere to all issued instructions.
On the academic front, Prof. Mohammed Hussein instructed the deans of the colleges to convert all lectures to distance learning to ensure the continuity of the academic plan. He stressed the importance of continuing lectures and classes according to the previously announced schedules, in full coordination with the Distance Learning Management System (DLMS) unit. He noted that the university possesses a robust digital infrastructure that allows for a smooth and seamless transition of the educational process to the online environment, thus safeguarding students' academic interests.
